Extending FoxTrot document types beyond Spotlight metadata importers
FoxTrot Professional Search and FoxTrot Personal Search are user-extensible regarding the types of documents that can be indexed - all you need to do is install additional applications containing SpotLight metadata importers.
If your needs call for indexing document types at a lower level, we are making an open source package available on an unsupported basis available, which will let you build custom-modified versions of the FoxTrot file crawler component. After substituting the original package's factory buit component with your modified application, your custom document types will be indexable.
FoxTrot core engine SDK
Developers interested in including high performance, cross-platform find-by content into their own applications can license the FoxTrot core engine SDK, a C/C++ library for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.
Evolving since 2003, the FoxTrot core engine is robust, compact and field proven; it has been commercially deployed in over 40 countries for e-mail indexing within PowerMail versions 4 (Mac OS 9 and X) and 5 (Mac OS X)
