Until PowerMail version 6, only the text part of messages were indexed, which precluded HTML messages with no plain text part (a practice that used to be frowned upon) from being indexed. Society evolves, so do developers.

+ Time Machine enhancements: The search index, spotlight cache, and previous version of the message database created when compacting, are now skipped by Time Machine. When restoring the database from the Time Machine backup, the search index is automatically rebuilt.

Thanks to PowerMail's new filter debugger invoked by holding the option-key on a message contextual menu, it is now possible to view a plain-text description of what the filter engine is doing.

Upon selecting a message, a contextual menu item now enables automated search and flat-list display, sorted by decreasing date, of all related messages with the same discussion topic.

Display mail in Finder & FoxTrot Pro without PowerMail launched

Users of FoxTrot Professional Search and Spotlight can now display stored messages in the Finder without launching PowerMail; this comes in especially handy for previewing off-line archived messages, which in turn helps keep a smaller size database.

Instead of multiplying risks with bigger and bigger databases, PowerMail work around the 2GB database limit by enabling the archiving and splitting into several smaller indexable message corpuses.
